Thirteen kitchens

Layouts, islands, storage and the finishes that decide the number. Every one of them is a real decision with a real consequence — in space, in budget or in what you will be cleaning — so bring us the numbers of the ones you like and we can start from something specific.

01Single-run galleyEverything on one wall with a parallel island. The cheapest good kitchen there is, because one wall carries all the services.
02Waterfall stoneThe countertop turned down the end of the island in one continuous slab. Doubles the stone but reads as furniture.
03Full-height cabinetryTaken to the ceiling, with the awkward top shelf given a job instead of dust.
04Deep drawers, no base cupboardsFull-extension runners on everything below the counter. Holds more, reaches further, ends the crawling.
05Integrated appliancesPanelled fridge and dishwasher so the room reads as joinery rather than as equipment.
06Range as the focal pointA wide dual-fuel range centred on the wall with the hood above it. The room organises itself around it.
07Marble island, quartz perimeterThe stone you want where people see it, the stone that survives where people work.
08Two-tone cabinetryDarker base, lighter wall units. Grounds the room and makes a low ceiling read higher.
09Open shelving, editedOne run, not a wall of it. Everything on it has to be worth looking at every day.
10Glass-front uppersInterior-lit, on a dimmer. The difference between storage and display.
11Layered lightingTask under the cabinets, ambient overhead, accent in the glass. Three circuits, three dimmers.
12Wide-plank floor, continuousThe same board running from the kitchen into the next room. Nothing makes a plan read larger.
13Wall removed, beam concealedThe opening you actually want, with the structure buried in the ceiling instead of dropped below it.

What happens next

Pick the ones you
keep coming back to.

Our designers work from the exterior style of the house — its proportions, its era and its materials — so what you choose in here reads as part of the same building rather than a set of separate good ideas. Send us the numbers and we will tell you what it takes to build them.
